It's raining, it's pouring...

So Ive been slack on updating, but I've been so busy with work ...
News with work: A few weeks back we had a Mcallan brand ambassador in town so we had to schedule a staff trainings, a scotch luncheon and a dinner. Having a brand ambassador in town is a big deal, you basically want to show off your market and show how great you are doing with their particular product. In short, it's a full on production, but a fun one. Scheduling luncheons and dinners is very time consuming; you are working with the owner and chef to create pairings to go with the scotch. You are making graphics for advertising the event and are inviting people (all while doing your actual job- sales). With the "small" dinner that I had scheduled, we were expecting not many people due to short notice... well it turned out to be completely slammed! Never a bad thing, just unexpected! But the whole event went on without a hitch, thank Jesus!
Then we had the Bombay GQ Challenge, which is a two day bartender competition where the winner gets to compete nation wide in an all expenses paid trip to Vegas. Competitions are very time consuming, we planned the entire event from start to finish: where the competition and after party would be held, what type of food, flowers, decorations, etc. We invite all the competitors and literally chase them down to make sure they submit their drink recipes, we schedule all the times for each competitor etc. There are a bunch of etceteras with planning these challenges, because something unforeseen always comes up- like last night, by the name of HURRICANE ISAAC! Charleston already has a drainage issue, like there being no drainage... so when a down pour comes the city floods, then high tide rolls in and adds more water flooding even worse: case in point with Monday. So the bar we were having the event at last night was completely flooded. Contestants were canceling because they could not get out of their driveways, the streets were completely flooded and roads were being shut down.

What a horrible night to have the GQ Challenge, right?! I have been in an SUV when downtown was flooded and the SUV was carried down the street by all the water, scary, never again will that happen! So Charleston made national news with all the flooding from Hurricane Isaac, and today it looks (besides the soggy ground) as if nothing had occurred! Then in the afternoon another torrential down pour came, hopefully this hurricane leaves soon!
